Fallen Star (Collaboration)

by Andrew Packard

No longer reflecting the
face of its beholder; once
a shooting star found itself
among the forgotten. It used
to hang as a symbol of the
meritorious man he was, but
not anymore.

His passion sailed away
from the railings of life,
now sinking in his own sea
of misery; he is a wreckage
of the man he used to be.

On the battlefield they
left no one behind; Now
he was found unfit for duty
by vows of dishonor. Wedding
Rings pawned for freedom, of
what once was.

His reason for being vanished
farther from trophy wife,
somehow seeing he's the enemy.
Father of three; Society he
defended, court ordered never
to see.
